  Kausani in Uttaranchal is known as the " Switzerland of India". Standing 1890 mts. above the sea level, Kausani is nature's own reserve. Even the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi had contemplated on the beauty of Kausani.

Road Take the Nainital route tiil Kathgodam/Bhowali. For driving instructions click here. From Bhowal take the Almora road via Khairna, Garampani, Kwarab to reach Almora. Kausani is 50 km from Almorai. See MAP

Train Last station is Kathgodam 136 km from Kausani.

What to do

Relax in the cool environs of Kausani and go for long mountain walks taking in the beauty of the wonderful Himalayas. The Anashakti Ashram is renowned for its association with Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.

You can also visit the temples of Baijnath (17km), Jageshwar (80 km) and Bageshwar(40 km) which are nearby and famous for their sculptures and revered by the Hindus especially the Shiva worshippers.
